Stéphanie Lapointe’s new album

Stéphanie Lapointe

Stéphanie Lapointe was on Tout le monde en parle tonight to promote her new CD, Donne-moi quelque chose qui ne finit pas. Guy A. played a few tracks and I have to admit, the album sounds good. Stéphanie has a beautiful voice–almost angelic. I’m probably going to purchase it on iTunes and then later review it for the blog.

In sort of related news: Rich Ly was recently booted off Star Académie. I thought that the guy had a lot of talent and was certainly better than the two other guys who constituted the bottom 3 for the week. I’m going to go out on a limb here and state that I suspect racism may have been a factor. That and the fact that Rich included a lot of English songs in his repertoire. I’m sure resident judge/prof and no-talent hack, Michel Rivard didn’t mind seeing him go.

Over 20 arrested at demonstration

Over 20 were arrested at today’s demonstration against so-called police brutality. I heard from another news source that the number arrested exceeds 30.

Rocks and other projectiles were thrown at police in an obvious and deliberate attempt to provoke. If there was any violence today, protesters only have themselves to blame for participating in this non-sensical demonstration.

From what I could see on TV, the majority of the trouble-makers appeared to be drugged-out marginal types. Being the cowards that they are, most wore masks or scarfs over their faces.

Personally, I think the police demonstrated remarkable self-control. If anything, too much self-control. If I was in charge, I would have imposed martial law and arrested those criminals by the truck-load.

EDIT: The CBC article was revised to indicate that at least 48 hooligans were arrested. I hope they are all prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Tomorrow is Monday . . .

. . . which means that the Montreal Gazette is combining several sections into one, with the noticeable exception of Sports.

Um, who the hell reads about sports anyway? It’s like watching radio.

The Gazette claims that it has to combine several section on Monday to cut costs but I have a better idea. Just do away with the sport’s section. It’s useless. Anybody who reads it is probably mouthing the words.

Demonstration Against Police

March 15, 2009 - Leave a Response

The Plateau in Montreal was filled today with losers demonstrating in protest of police conduct. Apparently, police brutality is rampant in Quebec and needs to be addressed. Personally, I’ve never had problems with the police, but there appears to be a vocal minority who insist that the police are out of control. This of course, is not true. While there may be some isolated cases that should be looked into, virtually all force used by police is justified.

What’s happening today is nothing more than a street party conducted by hippy losers with too much time on their hands. How ironic though that these protesters are pelting the police with rocks and insults. Heh . . . nice way to show that you are against violence.

If you don’t like being smacked around by police, don’t break the law or be a smartass.
